Section 443.091(1)(c)., F.S., Rule 60BB-3.022, Florida Administrative Code, establishes the criteria the Office of Unemployment Compensation Services uses to review requests from UI claimants to attend training or education classes while collecting UI benefits.  To review this criteria please go to: https://www.flrules.org/Gateway/View_notice.asp?id=5957369 and click on the “final adopted rule” document.

•Federal Grant Opportunities
The U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Labor have created a single website, http://www.opportunity.gov/ , where you can find helpful information on federal grants and financial aid opportunities.
Pell Grants: The Federal Pell Grant Program provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate and certain post baccalaureate students to promote access to higher education.  You can apply online for the Pell Grant by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form which is located at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ or by calling 1-800-4FEDAID (1-800-433-3243). If you are hearing-impaired and have questions, contact the TTY line at 1-800-730-8913. Callers in locations without access to 1-800 numbers may call 319-337-5665 (this is not a toll-free number).  Should you wish to apply for the Pell Grant, be sure you do so well in advance of the school term or course start date to allow sufficient time for processing the grant application. You may want to check with the school you want to enroll in to determine when you will need to have the FAFSA completed by for acceptance into the school semester, term or technical classes for which you want to enroll. You may also want to work with the Office of Financial Services at the educational institution which you plan to attend.
Carl Perkins Loans: A Carl Perkins Loan is a need-based student loan offered by the U.S. Department of Education to assist students in funding their post-secondary education.You may also apply online for a Carl Perkins loan by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form located at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ or by calling 1-800-4FEDAID (1-800-433-3243). If you are hearing-impaired and have questions, contact the TTY line at 1-800-730-8913. Callers in locations without access to 1-800 numbers may call 319-337-5665 (this is not a toll-free number). Welcome to the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation’s Unemployment Compensation (UC) program.  Unemployment Compensation (also called unemployment insurance) provides temporary wage replacement benefits to qualified individuals who are out of work through no fault of their own. Two weeks after you file your initial claim, you will need to claim your weeks. You should continue to claim every two weeks until you are employed or your claim ends. The system is available Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time. You can also set up or change your payment method, set or change your PIN and obtain specific current information about your claim.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA)
DUA is provided by the federal government and paid through the state unemployment office for individuals who do not qualify for regular unemployment benefits from Florida or any other state and whose unemployment is a direct result of the disaster. No DUA determination will be issued to you unless you are ineligible for regular unemployment after all issues on your regular unemployment claim have been resolved.

Unemployment Compensation fraud is a serious offense that can result in prosecution and incarceration. If you are aware of an individual that is fraudulently receiving benefits you should immediately contact the Agency for Workforce Innovation by calling, toll-free 1-800-342-9909 or submit the information on-line. You need not identify yourself when reporting suspected fraudulent activity, however, you must be able to provide the worker's name and the name or work location of his or her employer.
